Material Properties:

Polyphthalamide (PPA) plastics have a heat deflection temperature of over 300°C and a continuous use temperature of up to 170°C, meeting both short-term and long-term thermal performance requirements. They maintain superior mechanical properties—strength, stiffness, fatigue resistance, and creep resistance—across a wide temperature range and in high-humidity environments. Toughened PPA grades combine excellent toughness with a balance of hardness and flexibility, making them an ideal choice for fasteners requiring rigidity for single-use applications and flexibility for repeated use. Special grades are also available for applications requiring sprayable and electroplatable surfaces, flame retardancy, glycol resistance, and reflectivity.

Due to the amide groups in the para-position (1,4) of the benzene ring in its molecular structure, PPA is classified as a semi-crystalline engineering polymer. It bridges the gap between traditional thermoplastic engineering materials (such as polycarbonate, polyamide, polyester, and polyoxymethylene) and high-cost specialty polymers (such as liquid crystal polymers, polyphenylene sulfide, and polyetherimide), offering a balance of cost and performance. PPA exhibits superior mechanical properties, including strength, stiffness, fatigue resistance, and creep resistance, across a wide temperature range.

 

Reinforced Materials:

  • 30% Glass-Fiber Reinforced PPA: For structural applications, glass-fiber reinforced grades offer higher stiffness, strength, and creep resistance at elevated temperatures.

  • Mineral-Filled PPA: Provides improved dimensional stability and flatness, with some grades suitable for electroplating and epoxy coating.

  • Impact-Modified PPA: Offers significantly improved toughness across a wide range of humidity and temperature conditions, comparable to super-tough nylon, while maintaining higher strength and stiffness.

  • Unreinforced PPA: Suitable for general-purpose injection molding and extrusion applications, including those requiring high surface gloss, good lubricity, low warpage, and toughness, as well as high mechanical performance at elevated temperatures.

Stricter lead-free regulations have made most copper-based solutions non-compliant; rising metal prices have further increased costs; and current plastic solutions face performance bottlenecks.

 

PPA:

  • Some PPA grades (e.g., Grivory GV) lack hot water certification; poor long-term creep resistance; difficult to process; poor overmolding performance, requiring additional sealing rings.

  • PPS is too brittle for thread torque applications.

  • PPO systems are more costly (require more copper and additional assembly).

Castor Oil-Based Material
Derived from non-edible castor seeds (avoiding food chain competition), this sustainably sourced material thrives in poor soil conditions, notably in India and Brazil. Castor seeds yield 45%-55% castor oil, rich in ricinoleic acid (85% of fatty acids), which is chemically converted into sebacic acid (a key dicarboxylic acid for bio-based nylon) and 2-octanol. These derivatives, along with 1,4-diaminobutane, serve as critical monomers for synthesizing high-performance polyamides, emphasizing eco-efficiency through non-food feedstock and low-resource cultivation.

Green Performer™ is a high-performance, long-chain polyamide renowned for its exceptional rigidity-toughness balance, low water absorption (<1%), and outstanding dimensional stability. It exhibits superior resistance to hydrolysis, chemicals, and high temperatures (melting point: 250°C), alongside a broad processing window (230–300°C) and the highest equilibrium modulus among linear polyamides.
